Public Interest Notice - May 2009

This notice is published by the Limoges Citizens Committee to inform Limoges residents on the Committee's work and the activities and services in Limoges.

May 2000

Due to popular demand, The Limoges Citizens' Committee has been reinstated in November 1999. The committee's prime objective is to promote improvements for the town of Limoges. In order to achieve this, the committee represents individuals and groups of citizens with concerns, establishes priorities for the village of Limoges, determines the means to promote interest and support for the committee, advises and formulates recommendations, while favouring open communications and establishes strategies. The committee is responsible to the community, promotes honesty, respects opinions of all members, disseminates information and serves the interests of the community of Limoges.

During the last months, the main topics discussed were :

  • the water and sewage project - information session on the 15th of February with the members of the Nation municipality council and other responsible individuals;
  • the Bourdeau drain;
  • filling of road ditches and construction of sidewalks on each side of the Limoges road;
  • the procurement of a charter for the Committee;
  • fund raising activities walk-a-thon or wine and cheese ;
  • recruitment of new members;
  • obtaining a grant from Trillium for the construction of the recreational trail in the park.

There are other issues that the Limoges Citizens' Committee, Inc. could address. These are :

  • Investment of community members to develop a medical centre;
  • the planning for the lots in the Brisson project;
  • equity of the municipal tax burden;
  • the parish's centennial celebration;

Representation from each committee or organization of the village would be an asset. The committee is also looking for volunteers who would participate in a single project of his choice, particularly from people having the following interests :

  • construction of a parade float for the St-Jean Baptiste parade;
  • translation of minutes of meeting and information bulletins;
  • preparation and publication of information bulletins;
  • fund raising.

The committee, now with close to 300 members, is always looking for individuals who want to participate in community activities in order to make Limoges a town where conditions are good for living and bringing up children.
